MEET OUR DISTINGUISHED KEYNOTE SPEAKERS FOR WABER 2017 CONFERENCE

Prof. Jason D. SHAW

Prof. Jason D. SHAWProf Jason D. Shaw (Editor of Academy of Management Journal) is one of our resource persons/keynote speakers for WABER 2017 Conference. We look forward to the fresh perspectives he will be sharing with us. Prof. Jason D. Shaw is Chair Professor of Management, Head of Department of Management and Marketing, and Director of the Centre for Leadership and Innovation in the Faculty of Business at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas in 1997. He is the Editor of Academy of Management Journal (2016-2019). His research has appeared or been accepted for publication in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management, among other scientific outlets. He has served or is serving on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management, among others. He has been invited for visiting scholar positions and other speaking engagements in China, Finland, Austria, Denmark, Norway, England, Germany, Hong Kong, Spain, Israel, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Thailand, and the USA. Prior to his appointment at PolyU, he was the Curtis L. Carlson School-wide Professor in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, the Clark Material Handling Company Professor at the University of Kentucky, an assistant professor at Drexel University, and an analyst for the Boeing Company.


Prof. Oluwole MORENIKEJI

Prof. Oluwole MORENIKEJIProf. Oluwole Morenikeji is one of our resource persons/keynote speakers for WABER 2017 Conference. A distinguished academic we look forward to welcoming to the conference.

Prof. Oluwole Morenikeji is a Professor of Urban and Regional Planning. He currently serves as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. He obtained his B. Sc in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Calabar in 1983 and MSc in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Benin in 1998. He did his Ph.D. in Transport Planning at FUT Minna and won a Nigerian-Italian Ph.D. scholarship which enabled him to do part of his Ph.D. work at the University of Trieste, Italy. Afterwards, he was a Commonwealth postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds, UK. Prof Morenikeji has served as Head of Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Director of the Centre for Human Settlements and Urban Development, and Dean of the School of Environmental Technology at FUT Minna. He has participated in a number of internationally funded research projects and published several papers in journals. His areas of interest include transportation planning, human development studies, spatial analysis and research methods. He is currently participating in a collaboratory research between The Construction and Property Research Centre, University of the West of England (CPRC-UWE), Bristol, UK and the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna being funded by DFID. He was appointed in April 2016 by the West African Science Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) as a visiting Professor teaching Research Methodology at the Joint Facility for Language and Common Courses (JFLCC) 2016 which is a collaborative programme for Masters (MRP) and Doctoral Research Programme (GRP) students from 10 participating Universities


Prof. Will HUGHES

Prof. Will HUGHESProfessor Will Hughes is one of our keynote speakers and resource persons for WABER 2017 Conference. His interaction with the built environment community in West Africa has been productive and many have benefitted from his research insights. We look forward to welcoming him again to Ghana. 

Prof Will Hughes is Professor in Construction Management and Economics in the School of Construction Management and Engineering, University of Reading, UK. He has been Editor-in-chief of Construction Management and Economics for many years. He is widely acknowledged as a leading academic in the built environment field and has an international reputation in the field of procurement and commercial management in construction. His PhD was on organizational analysis of building projects and he has researched and published extensively in this topic. His research interests include the control and management of building contracts, the management of design in construction, the analysis of organizational structure, and the analysis of procurement systems. The focus of his work is the commercial processes of structuring, negotiating, recording and enforcing business deals in construction. He has co-authored several books on construction management and contractual issues, including a best-selling text book, Construction Contracts: Law and Management that is an essential text in most universities running such courses. He is editor of the international refereed journal Construction Management and Economics, a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Construction Research and the Journal of Asian Architectural and Building Research, as well as an editorial adviser to Taylor and Francis. He is an active member of ARCOM (Association of Researchers in Construction Management), having completed two years as chairman 1998-2000. Professor Hughes has recently contributed an entry to the Oxford Encyclopaedia of Economic History and to a book on Procuring Complex Performance.
